Adam Kealoha Causey is the AP’s assistant news director for Texas and Oklahoma, leading a team of text, photo and video journalists covering news from his territory for the world. He’s based in Dallas. Major stories he and his team have covered include Gov. Greg Abbott’s continued efforts to fortify and patrol the U.S. border with Mexico, the school shooting massacre in Uvalde, and the novel abortion law that virtually ended the procedure in Texas before the fall of Roe v. Wade. Before joining the AP, he worked for a decade in local newspapers in Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Florida and Shreveport, Louisiana. He is mentoring students this year through CONNECT, and he has also worked with students and young journalists in AAJA. He is a graduate of the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University and co-author of "100 Things To Do in Las Vegas Before You Die."
