Freida Mock


Freida Mock is the director of the Oscar®-winning and DGA Award-nominated Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision, about the designer of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Her other Oscar®-nominated films include Rose Kennedy, a Life to Remember; SING! and Never Give Up.  She was the first Governor elected to the Documentary Branch of AMPAS and served as Chair, as well as Co-chair of the DGA Documentary Awards. Her recent films include Wrestling with Angels: Playwright Tony Kushner; Return with Honor (both Sundance premieres) and Sing China! She recently directed G-Dog, about the charismatic gang expert, Jesuit Greg Boyle, and founder of Homeboy Industries; and the feature documentary ANITA that premiered at Sundance and inspired the recent HBO movie CONFIRMATION, starring Kerry Washington as Anita Hill, Wendell Pierce as Clarence Thomas and Greg Kinnear as chair Joe Biden.  She just produced and directed the feature the Heroes Project, the story of 7 young amputee vets climbing the tallest mountains on every continent, the 7 Summits including Everest.
