Nick Ut began working for The Associated Press in Saigon in 1966. Since then, Nick has won numerous prizes for his photographs. In 1973, he became the youngest photographer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Spot Photography after capturing 9-year-old Kim Phuc fleeing the napalm attack that had just destroyed her village.

On June 26, 2016, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Los Angeles Press Club, and Kim Phuc, the subject of the photo that won him numerous awards, was by his side.
